Portland Acupuncture Blog- Kevin’s Introduction

Here is the bio of my friend and colleague Kevin Wrathall- another blogger on the Portland Acupuncture website!

Entering my final year of master’s studies, I practice Oriental Medicine as a clinical intern at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.

While I grew up with biomedicine in my family (my mother as a professor of neuroscience and my father as a professor of evolutionary biology), I headed in a different direction.  After high school, I completed an undergraduate degree in engineering and masters degree in business, then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where I spent 12 years as a consultant and product manager for business software systems.

Though I enjoyed the action and excitement of working in corporate high tech, I found myself longing for something more.  For years, I developed a passion for a variety of bodywork activities, from yoga to biking, from running to martial arts.  I had also developed a passion for doing spiritual work, through meditation, retreats and a mystery school. With Oriental Medicine, I found a way to combine these passions with my desire to help people.

As I finish my schooling and become a practitioner, I hope to bring the remarkable capacity of Oriental Medicine to a world much in need of healing.
